The Lagos State Butchers Association has officially ushered in a new era of leadership with the inauguration of its newly elected Chairman(Alhaji Ismaila Ademola Babalola) (aka Afisuru) and Executive members. The ceremony took place on 8th February at Abati Barracks, Surulere, Lagos State, and marked a significant milestone in the association’s commitment to strengthening the butchery trade and promoting unity among its members across the state.
The well-attended event drew association members from various zones, community leaders, stakeholders in the livestock and meat processing sector, as well as invited guests. The atmosphere was one of celebration and renewed optimism, as members expressed confidence in the capacity of the new leadership to move the association forward.
In his inaugural address, the Chairman (Alhaji Ismaila Ademola Babalola) (aka Afisuru) expressed heartfelt appreciation to members for the trust and confidence placed in him and the executive team. He reaffirmed his commitment to transparent leadership, inclusiveness, and the welfare of all members. He emphasized that the new administration would prioritize improved working conditions, enhanced hygiene and safety standards, and effective collaboration with government agencies and relevant stakeholders.
The Chairman further stressed the importance of unity and cooperation among members, noting that collective effort remains the key to achieving the association’s goals. He called on all members to support the executive team as they work towards modernizing the trade, addressing long-standing challenges, and creating sustainable opportunities within the sector.
Other members of the executive council, in their goodwill messages, pledged to serve with dedication, integrity, and accountability. They outlined plans focused on capacity building, strengthening the association’s internal structures, and fostering peace and cooperation among members statewide.
The inauguration ceremony concluded with goodwill messages, cultural displays, and a renewed call for collaboration between the Lagos State Butchers Association and relevant authorities to ensure the continued growth and development of the butchery industry in Lagos State.
With the successful inauguration held on 8th February at Abati Barracks, Surulere, the Lagos State Butchers Association looks forward to a progressive future defined by strong leadership, unity, and improved standards across the trade.
In addition during the well attended inauguration ceremony, the Chairperson of the Lagos State chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Comrade Agnes Fumi Sese rebranded the association with a new name linking the butchery trade practitioners to the Nation’s Labour union.
The new name is National Butchers Union of Nigeria (Lagos State Chapter).
